It’s so exciting to arrive at a destination with your best friend by your side. Pets are often eager to get out of the car and on to the next adventure. But bringing pets along brings potential hazards too. Signage offers a great way to remind people about responsible pet ownership and keeping their pets safe.

Here are sample messages that can be helpful in parking areas. They’re in the voice of a pet to help make them memorable.

• YOU AUTO KNOW: The temperature in a car can rise 20 degrees in just 10 minutes. Don’t leave me inside!

• WINDOWS UP: Never let me hang out of a moving car. I could fall, jump out, or get debris in my eye or nose.

• LEASH UP: Attach my leash before you open the door. You never know what temptation is right outside!

• TAKE A BREAK: Let’s take a walk or play before we go so it’s easier to settle down for the drive.

• TRAVEL SAFE: You know seatbelts save lives. Give me the same protection! Use a harness or carrier in the car.

• CARRY ID: Make sure my collar has an ID tag with your phone number clearly readable.

• COME ON IN: Our facilities welcome pets so you can enjoy your visit together.

• PROTECT YOUR PETS: Keep pets safe before, during and after your visit. Don’t leave them unattended in your car.
