Wylie, TX

BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ certified cities have programs and policies that make it easier for pets and pet owners to live a happy, healthy life together. Certified in the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program in 2021, Wylie, TX scored especially well in the Homes trait of our pet-friendly cities model.

The City of Wylie has 19 miles of scenic walking trails made especially with pets and owners in mind. They are also planning a 4-acre site for a dog park within the Municipal Complex. A dog park has been a top priority for the city for several years. It is being designed with input from pet owners and regular dog park users to ensure the design and amenities meet the community’s needs.

The park’s design concept features a playground, drinking stations for pets (and some for people too), shade structures, park bench seating, and open space with different textures that include grass, decomposed granite, stone and logs. The park is adjacent to several trails so residents can enjoy a walk or run with their dogs and the beautiful natural scenery.
