Keeping pets safe starts with making sure pet owners are aware of the potential hazards around them. Signage in pet-friendly places is a great opportunity to educate pet parents.
Here are sample safety messages.
- KNOW YOUR PET: Pets that are well-behaved in noisy, crowded places do best in public spaces.
- PROTECT OTHERS: Keeping pets leashed helps keep people and pets safe.
- KEEP WATCH: Keep a close eye on your pet around people, kids and other animals.
- ASK FIRST: Always ask for permission before touching someone else’s pet. Teach kids to ask too.
- MAKE NEW FRIENDS: But approach other pets with care until you know how the meeting will go.
- NO NIBBLING: Don’t let pets chew on plants or other things that could be harmful. Bring treats or toys instead.
- STAY COOL: Take water and shade breaks to avoid overheating on warm days.
- I’M THIRSTY: Dogs need more water than people do. Carry extra water for your best friend.
