What Makes Port St. Lucie a Pet-Friendly City?

Certified in the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program in 2019, Port St. Lucie, FL scored especially well in the Homes and Parks traits of our pet-friendly cities model.

The city boasts 62 pet waste stations throughout the community, which can be found on an interactive map for residents and visitors.

The community also has four dog parks and six additional parks that welcome leashed dogs.

A community cat program helps care for local stray cats and humanely reduce overpopulation. You can check out a video about the program here.

Building for People and Pets

Here’s what Mayor Shannon Martin said about pets when Port St. Lucie achieved recertification in 2023. The city has been certified since 2019.
