BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ certified cities have programs and policies that make it easier for pets and pet owners to live a happy, healthy life together.
Certified in the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program in 2020, Orion Township, Michigan, scored especially well in the Shelters and Business traits of our pet-friendly cities model — including the fact that the city government allows employees to bring pets to work.
Orion Township features a 24-acre, fence-enclosed dog park, Orion Oaks. This regional attraction draws visitors from all over Metro Detroit. The park offers access to two trails, a picnic shelter, drinking water, open play areas and Lake Sixteen for dogs to swim.
“Orion Township has been long known by our motto ‘where living is a vacation,’ and we are so honored to be certified among BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™. We are committed to being an inclusive community and are excited to share our continually expanding recreational and business offerings with our furry and four-legged friends. Whether you are looking for a pet-friendly community to call your home, or you are just passing through looking fro a swim, snack and a chance to meet new friends, Orion Township is the place!”
