What Makes Henderson Pet Friendly?

The City of Henderson has 19 dog parks, and the Bark Park is the largest and most unique. It was designed with input from pet owners and regular dog park users to ensure the design and amenities meet the needs of the community. The five-acre Bark Park features separate dog runs, agility course, walking trail, dog bone-themed benches, a splash pad for dogs, and drinking stations for pets (and some for people too).

The Bark Park hosts classes and programs and can also accommodate small dog shows and events. It is also home to Barkules, a cute puppy mascot. This oversized play structure for children is six feet tall and 18 feet long, and loyally stands watch over the park.

Events in Henderson that focus on pets include:

  • Doggy Paddle and Play, a fun event where the city allows dogs to play in one of the city pools at the end of the season.
  • Bark in the Park, an annual pet adoption and education event.
  • Pet Trick or Treat, an annual pet Halloween event, which includes a pet costume contest, dog treat stops on the trail and an afterparty with agility courses in the dog park.
  • Grinch Takes over the Bark Park, a holiday event that includes a visit by the Grinch, a free photo of pet with the Grinch, agility courses and dog treats.
