BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ certified cities have programs and policies that make it easier for pets and pet owners to live a happy, healthy life together. Certified in the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program in 2024, Nauvoo, Illinois scored especially well in the Shelters trait of our pet-friendly cities model.
Among the city’s most pet-friendly places, it lists the Nauvoo Riverwalk along the Mississippi River; the local state park, which includes dog-friendly hiking trails; and the city’s dog park that provides a fenced-in area for off-leash fun.
