{"id":765,"date":"2020-09-23T07:57:36","date_gmt":"2020-09-23T07:57:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/preprod.wp.bettercitiesforpets.com\/model-ordinance-against-breed-based-pet-restrictions\/"},"modified":"2023-04-30T17:18:30","modified_gmt":"2023-04-30T17:18:30","slug":"ordonnance-modele-contre-les-restrictions-sur-les-animaux-de-compagnie-basees-sur-la-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bettercitiesforpets.com\/fr\/ordonnance-modele-contre-les-restrictions-sur-les-animaux-de-compagnie-basees-sur-la-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Ordonnance type contre les restrictions relatives aux animaux de compagnie fond\u00e9es sur la race"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bettercitiesforpets.com\/media\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Model-Ordinance-against-Breed-Based-Pet-Restrictions-from-BETTER-CITIES-FOR-PETS.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download PDF<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bettercitiesforpets.com\/media\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Model-Ordinance-against-Breed-Based-Pet-Restrictions-from-BETTER-CITIES-FOR-PETS.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Word Doc<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>MUNICIPALITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ORDINANCE NUMBER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AN ORDINANCE to amend [SECTION] of the [MUNICIPAL STATUTES\/CODE] repealing the prohibition on ownership of certain breeds of dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHEREAS, <\/strong>breed-based restrictions, sometimes known as \u201cpit bull bans,\u201d were originally intended to prevent attacks by prohibiting the ownership of certain breeds of dogs that were considered to be inherently aggressive or dangerous; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHEREAS, <\/strong>a 2014 report by the American Veterinary Medical Association found that pit-bull type dogs are not excessively aggressive; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHEREAS, <\/strong>many cities in the United States have already repealed ordinances banning pit bulls and other breeds previously considered to be inherently aggressive; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHEREAS, <\/strong>a dog\u2019s behavior is primarily determined by the training and care given to it by its owner;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council of [MUNICIPALITY, COUNTY, AND STATE] as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SECTION 1. <\/strong>[SECTION] of the [STATUTE\/CODE], prohibiting the ownership of certain breeds of dog that were previously considered \u201cdangerous,\u201d is hereby repealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SECTION 2. <\/strong>All dogs residing in [MUNICIPALITY], regardless of breed, must be licensed according to [SECTION re: DOG LICENSES].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SECTION 3<\/strong>.
